Let the Word Speak!

Advent

As with many of us, Christmas is my favorite time of year, especially including the weeks of preparation called Advent. We celebrate Advent with the knowledge that the Messiah did indeed come and changed history in how He lived, died, and rose again.

As we read the writings of the psalmists and prophets, we recognize that they had only seen these events through the eyes of faith and the words granted to them from God. We read the stories of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the Magi, Simeon, and Anna, and see in their responses how dramatic and wonderful an event this birth was. Advent calls us to circle in awe around a manger once again as if this was our first time to marvel that God would choose to come to earth as an infant in a stable.

May you too be blessed with wonder and filled with awe in every Christmas season!
